In a major step toward supporting Rwanda’s green transport revolution, AUTO24 Rwanda has supplied 35 Toyota Corolla Levin Plug-In Hybrid vehicles to leading taxi and transport company Treize Ride. This initiative is part of Rwanda’s broader mission to reduce the environmental footprint of its transport sector, which currently contributes about 34% of the nation’s total emissions.

Rwanda has been actively promoting electric and hybrid vehicles across all transport modes—from motorcycles to public buses—to build a cleaner, more sustainable future. As a pioneer in environmentally friendly mobility solutions, AUTO24 Rwanda’s partnership with Treize Ride aims to expand access to modern, low-emission vehicles that address both the economic and ecological challenges facing the transport industry today.
Ivan Ruzibiza, Country Manager of AUTO24 Rwanda, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering energy-efficient vehicles aligned with national climate goals. “Passenger transport is one of the largest contributors to harmful emissions. That’s why we focus on supplying hybrid and electric models that not only support the environment but also meet the operational demands of urban transport,” Ruzibiza said.
The Toyota Corolla Levin Plug-In Hybrids provided to Treize Ride are designed to run significant distances on electric power alone before switching to fuel, optimizing efficiency and lowering operating costs in the city environment.
Treize Ride CEO Pierre Canisius Niringiyimana highlighted the dual motivation behind the switch to eco-friendly cars: “We partnered with AUTO24 because they offer high-quality, low-emission vehicles that are new and reliable. This move aligns perfectly with the government’s policies promoting environmentally friendly transport.”

Niringiyimana also noted that beyond reducing emissions, the new hybrids are expected to cut fuel expenses and enhance service efficiency, making the business more sustainable from both financial and operational standpoints.
Looking ahead, Rwanda’s green mobility vision sets clear targets for 2030: electric and hybrid vehicles should constitute 20% of public transport fleets, 30% of motorcycles, and 8% of private cars nationwide.

The World Health Organization highlights the critical health benefits of reducing air pollution, which is linked to respiratory illnesses, heart disease, and other serious conditions—especially affecting vulnerable groups like children, pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses.
With initiatives like the AUTO24-Treize Ride partnership, Rwanda is accelerating its transition toward a cleaner, healthier transport future—one hybrid vehicle at a time.
